    First 5

174: Maybe the best I've ever seen Scott Glasser look in a Minnesota singlet. Stayed aggressive the whole match on the feet. Got out quick from the bottom and did a nice little bit of work on top to get his extra point. I throw the "maybe the best ever" point in there because he had always been a guy who had been aggressive on his feet but in this match he didn't display any of the sloppiness that he had maybe had trouble with in the past. If he's finally healthy he's a guy that can do damage at this weight class both in the conference and nationally.

184: As a fan of the opposing team this is the Jerome Ward that I like to see. Did absolutely nothing but tie up the head until he decided to go and when he went he hit the big blast double. I thought Young was stalling on bottom in the 3rd and the call that he was hit with was well warranted.

197: Yohn went toe to toe with him for the first 4:30 or so but eventually Varner just started showing why he was the #1 guy in the country. Tough, tough way to lose the match. He took a risk trying to gramby away and Varner just stuck his high half in as he was trying to go and then just used his tremendous strength to hold Yohn on his back for the stick.

285: I would have been hot had they lost this match as the first TD that Thompson was awarded was not 2 at least in my opinion. Regardless Berhow as he always does did a nice job staying aggressive with his offense, and scrambling well on defense.

125: Andrew Long continues to show just how tough he is. He managed to get into some upper body positions against Sanders and really take advantage of them. His style almost strikes me kind of like a bigger version of Brad Pataky who Sanders had trouble with last year. Just very active and a guy who you've got to worry about hitting big moves on you. If Long gets his wind right as big as he is and as talented as he is he could make things really interesting against the top guys at this weight.

    Nick Fanthorpe v. Jayson Ness

1st Period: Ness out very heavy on the head very quickly to start the match off...Ness runs him out of bounds. Ness in on a head inside single...Fanthorpe locking on the chest, Ness is flat...stalemated. Ness in deep now on another single, he had the angle for a second but Fanthorpe gets his hips back square and its stalemated again. Ness elbows off and drops down to a low single and collects both ankles for the TD...2-0 Ness, lifts elevates and returns Fanthorpe out of bounds. Fanthorpe tripods up...Ness drops down to a single and brings him back...Fanthorpe up again and this time Ness returns him out of bounds. Ness rides out the period to lead 2-0

2nd Period: Ness starts down...Ness up to his feet immediately, trying to peel the hands and Fanthorpe eventually just pushes him out. Ness up immediately again, Fanthorpe warned for stalling...and Ness given an escape on the edge. 3-0 Ness. 1 minute to go. Ness with a half shot, now tries to arm drag...30 seconds to go. Another shot by Ness but he didn't clear Fanthorpe's hands. Fanthorpe attempt on the edge, Ness very quicky behind but the ref doesn't give it. That looked closer than the Thompson/Berhow situation...Period ends 3-0 Ness.

3rd Period: Fanthorpe takes both up I think...Another near go behind TD by Ness on the edge just couldn't drag his toes...this time Ness converts on his go behind...5-0 Ness. Ness cuts after going back over 1 minute in riding time...5-1 Ness. 30 seconds to go...Couple shot attempts by each guy...Ness with an ankle pick attempt...and another one. Ness adds riding time.

Jayson Ness dec Nick Fanthorpe 6-1

Long's only 2 losses were to Matt McDonough. So does Conventional Wisdom say that McD handles Sanders this year twice, (duals & B10) ?

    Dalton Jensen v. Mike Thorn

1st Period: Jensen in on a head outside single early, Thorn gets his hips flat, Jensen trying to drive in but Thorn still keeping him flattened out. Jensen locked on the leg, Thorn breaks the grip covers the ankle and gets the TD...2-0 Thorn. He cuts on the edge to make it 2-1...Thorn in on a low single, Jensen drapes over and they're ankle to ankle, Thorn laces the legs but Jensen still has his far ankle...Thorn comes behind for another TD and nearly takes Jensen over to his back...4-1 Thorn. Thorn rushes trying to go for a tilt and nearly gets reversed but he funks it out of bounds to keep control. Jensen works his hips out and kicks away for the escape...4-2 Thorn and Thorn now trying to rubber knee around on another go behind but it gets stalemated. Ankle pick TD by Thorn just as the call for 30 seconds left came in...6-2 Thorn. Thorn trying to walk a leg up and go for a cradle...Period ends 6-2 Thorn.

2nd Period: Jensen starts down...Jensen power switches around for the escape...6-3 Thorn and Thorn right back to his front headlock...Thorn in again on a low single, Jensen locks through the crotch, and Thorn stays with it to get the TD...8-3 Thorn, he's got the legs separated and is trying to get back, KJ screaming to Jensen to crawl forward on the edge, Thorn comes back on top...Period ends 8-3 Thorn.

3rd Period: Thorn takes both up I think, again the camera had panned away...Jensen in on another shot attempt, Thorn trying to circle around behind, and does for the TD...10-3 Thorn...Thorn looked like he was going to go head scoop for a second...30 seconds to go...Jensen warned for stalling. Thorn puts his boots in...Tries to go power half late but buzzer sounds.

Mike Thorn maj Dalton Jensen 11-3

Nah, you have to wrestle the matches. None of that A beat B, B beats C, so A beats C crap. I DO think McDonough might beat him, because he physically presents a lot of challenges for Sanders, and Sanders hasn't quite made the leap I thought he would He's still very good, of course.

I don't understand the question. There is no such thing as conventional thinking in wrestling.

    Mitch Mueller v. David Zilverberg

1st Period: Zilverberg comes out heavy on the head and reaching for a leg, pummels up into a bodylock that Mueller reaches back with a hand and peels...Couple half shots by Zilverberg now Mueller comes back with one of his own. Couple of more shot attempts by each guy, no one really penetrating ot the legs yet...Mueller in deep now on a head inside single, tries to circle behind, now cracks Zilverburg down...Zilverburg locking through the chest...they funk around a little bit now Zilverburg comes up on top and its stalemated rather quickly. Zilverburg now in on a head inside shot, Mueller whizzers hard and kicks away. Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Zilverburg starts down. Zilverburg tripods up, Mueller lifts and returns. Zilverburg tries to switch around but he left the arm so Mueller keeping him where he is...Mueller riding the ankle and with a claw, Zilverburg reaches back into a whizzer now up to his feet trying to peel the hands, and Mueller finally lets him go...1-0 Zilverburg. Mueller tries to drop in on a shot but Zilverburg blocks him off, tries to drag around behind him now but Mueller comes up to his feet. Period ends 1-0 Zilverburg.

3rd Period: Mueller starts down...he comes up peels the hands and is away quickly...match is tied 1-1...Mueller in deep now on another single, Zilverberg draping himself over but Mueller comes up between the legs and out for the TD...3-1 Mueller, Mueller gets his riding time back and cuts to make it 3-2 Mueller...Mueller trying an ankle pick from an underhook, 1 minute to go...Mueller on another low single and collects both ankle for the TD...5-2 Mueller, and doesn't spend any time on top...5-3 Mueller. Mueller in on another low single but Zilverberg kicks away. Mueller adds riding time.
