what on earth is going on.

It was supposed to be Keddy/Pucillo then everyone else. Those two have looked marginal at best with keddy losing to ward, housed by cannon, and other losses. Pucillo loses to killer, dergo and leblanc..

Askren drops down and then seems like the clear number 1 and then loses to Dergo.

Cannon looked great, but loses in ot to dergo.

Dergo is a guy I would never have predicted these kinds of results from.

One constant has been Kilgore absolutely demolishing people. He will seemingly be the number 1 guy at this point.

Anyone care to weigh in how this will work out come NCAA time?

I don't know whats going on with Keddy at this point. Something is obviously wrong, weather it be physical or mental. I cant for the life of me think it is mental. This kid works harder and is very prepared. He had a great season last year and I would assume he is confident in his abilities to beat anyone in this years weight. But yesterday he was ridden twice. I have been watching Keddy wrestle since he broke the lineup and I don't think I have ever seen him give up a point for riding time. He usually gets out in under two seconds off the whistle. If youve never seen him wrestle from underneath off the whistle, he is lightning fast, and thats not an exageration. For him to be ridden like he was twice yesterday, I have to believe that there is something wrong. I hope he and his coaches get it figured out so he can be healthy and back to his old self soon.

Agreed w/ Keddy, between getting ridden and giving up lots of TD's I don't know what is wrong w/ him. Still plenty of time to figure out those things, but it seems like the effort and aggression is there, just not executing.

Kilgore just lost, too. The rankers have some interesting choices to make.

What about Kirk Smith from Boise, has he lost yet? He was VERY tough last year and I think won Vegas...

As for Keddy, he has trouble with the tall lanky guys. Maybe the problem is simply technical. He needs a few new weapons in his arsenal. Perhaps one of the Brands or Schwab has a few techniques for him to try.

#1 this week is either going to wind up being Kirk Smith by default, or Dergo with whoever isn't #1 being #2.

After that, who knows...Kilgore or Cannon winning their finals matches would have made it a little easier but we obviously know how that went.
