I can't believe that I was dumb enough to have forgotten this (sure it won't surprise some people though) but Smith beat Dergo in the finals out at Las Vegas, so this should actually be pretty cut and dry.

Smith will be #1 and Dergo will follow him up.

    #1 Smith
    2 Dergo
    3 Askren
    4 Cannon
    5 Kilgore

HONEYCUTT threw a monkey wrench into the mix .Kilgore is just a sophomore he'll learn to give up one instead of 4-5 soon .We need more Kilgores than Smiths-as Smith will bore you to death as he is overly cautious -Kilgore would not be as good if you take away his aggressiveness.

John Dergo is never out of a match, and loss in the Midlands aside I've been most impressed with Cannon this year. Though I haven't had much of a chance to see Dustin "Kilgore Trout" this year...

Still early.......get the cob webs out. See at the end of January where we are at. Keddy / Pucillo are not a lock for this thing.....should never have been. Its going to come down to Nationals and who is peaking at the right time and who wants it more....simple as that.

I choose to believe that the Iowa coaching staff is completely focused on making sure Phil doesn't peak too early. :-)

But I will tell you what, Dergo should have won as he let Smith escape with only a few seconds left, on the edge of the mat. He should have just shoved him off & it would have been reset.

I wasn't surprised by Dergo @ Midlands after seeing him in Vegas & realizing he was not only improved but also had room to immediately improve upon.

Kilgore lost to RS Honeycut but he should probably be #1 with Dergo #2 for right now. Dergo also beat Pucillo @ CKI a week after Kilgore beat Pucillo @ OK Gold.

Man don't date yourself with that Vonnegut reference! That's hysterical!
