165: Great job by Reader coming out quick and getting his early TD to try and get some momentum. His biggest problem early on in matches against Morningstar has been not capitalizing on some early opportunities. His mat wrestling was much improved comparatively to their matches last year. Morningstar got in on a couple of his shots from a long way out and then pull the leg in deals but Reader did a nice job working to not give up the TD.
174: Kind of a methodical match by Borschel. Burk worked hard from the feet getting in on a few deep shots but Borschel is just so good from that crackdown position. Borschel was working hard from the top trying to get the turn with one of his arm bars but Burk was determined not to give it up.
184: Very similar to their match last year with Keddy having a lot of issues with clearing the ties from up top and getting in on Ward, this time Ward just did a nice job converting two very nice shots for his TD's. Keddy is great when he can bully guys around the mat but Ward is just so big he isn't going to get bullied around.
197: Varner came out and worked very hard from the top trying to stuff the head and get his half but the strength that Beatty has built up over the last two years has really showed as he fought them all off. Varner looked like he was going to lose out on his opportunity for the major there at the end but then Beatty took an awful shot to gift wrap the major for him.
285: Z spent the match really working to just try and move Rasing, and Rasing really wasn't doing much of anything. Then all of a sudden in OT he came out and took a really quick shot to nearly get the winning TD. The Iowa coaches were not very happy at the end, but Fitzgerald told them that Rasing had put himself in that position and thats why he didn't call it PD.
