Thorn started last year 13-0, then he ran into some Div1 guys and went 17-17 the rest of the year . I'd say 14-5th . I don't understand Minny's philosophy about all the weak openig matches -but JRob is a far better coach than me .
ANOTHER UPSET SPECIAL !! Nacita vs.Thorn .!! Post your choices .

Even after he ran into those "Div1 guys" he had wins during that period (post 13-0 start) over Jaggers (twice), Filip Novachkov, Molinaro (3 times), and Keith Sulzer (twice).

He was definitely kind of inconsistent over the second half of the year but it isn't like he wasn't beating high quality wrestlers last year.

I never said he was a bad wrestler , I just think the season gets too long when you wrestle 47 times -and at the NCAA's he lost to Washington and Simpson -2 inferior wrestlers -I just can't justify such a high jump in the rankings when he has wins over non Div1 opposition .

I don't have a problem with Thorn's ranking. As I said, 4-10 at 141 are interchangeable. Just like last year. You could make a case for any of them. Thorn had two wins over a 2x champ Jaggers and three wins over AA Molinaro. He's pretty damn good.

yeah I think all of you guys are goofy...

Thorn at #7 is too high as well imo, but at least its reasonable. And yeah Jensens, there is a pretty big difference between 4 and 7. If Kilgore had beaten Pucillo and stayed at #8 rather then moving up to #5 would you have been happy?

Nauman, Diaz, Cleveland, Dake, Gallick, Drouin, Humphrey and Krom should all be in front of Thorn at the very least, and thats just off the top of my head. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few
    Gold is an idiot.

I am not even a Mike Thorn hater I actually hope he does well this year, but a 1-2 NCAA performance and 17 losses last year... to rank him this high is downright criminal

If you disagree, post YOUR top 10. I think Thorn should be ahead of Nauman if for no other reason than Thorn was 3-0 against Molinaro and Nauman was 0-2 against Molinaro. All the guys in question (4-10) had some bad losses last year. I see 141 this year being like last year.

Diaz had some bad losses last year and not as many quality wins as Thorn. Plus, he had a common opponent loss (Novachkov). Cleveland lost to Thorn and Diaz last season.

80% of all D1 teams I would say start their year with easy matches. Try to find me a team w/o some soft spots and i'll be impressed.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

I don't think I would have cared that much either way. My level of happiness in life isn't dependent on where various college wrestlers fall in the rankings at their respective weights.

So in your opinion right here you think Thorn should be ranked #9.

I won't even harp on the fact that one of those guys that you said should be in front of Thorn had just as poor of a postseason as he did and was defeated by Thorn every time that they wrestled last year.

I guess I don't see the point of the outrage about five spots in the rankings (with both spots being in the top ten) after just a month of the season.
