I see they didn't wrestle any consolation semifinals. Semifinal losers went for 3rd. I hate that in a Div I tournament, especially if they keep team scores.

    Thoughts:

-I'm pleased that Opfer continues to win and wrestle everyone close. He lost to Perrelli 6-2*. I don't know why the '*' is there, but it's on the bracket.

-Yaaaaay Mitcheff. Much like Russ has predicted, Kevin Smith looks extremely tough this year, and a win over Grey solidifies that. Mitcheff beats him by a nice 6-3 margin.

-That's a nice first period fall by Matt Kyler. Good to see Cathell finally making weight.

-So far Mallie Shuster hasn't done as well as I thought he would, but that's ok. He should still be a great starter for Kent the next 4 years and there is plenty of time for him to make noise this year.

-Lewnes v. Letts II is much closer, but still looks like a dominant win for Lewnes. Wonder how Letts will respond to this weekend.

-Kilgore is probably having the most impressive season so far out of anyone in the country. He finishes today with a pin, a tech, a major, and a win over #6 LeBlanc. 8-4 sounds pretty decisive, too.

    - Hudson Taylor has to be the leading fantasy scorer right now. How many pins does this guy have so far????

    - Great win by Brendan Barlow over Patrick Gilmore... KSU's youth has their future looking very bright. Bedelyon, Cathell, Shuster, Kilgore, and Barlow all return next year and should all push very hard to AA. Opfer, Adam Cogar, and Ross Tice could all win matches as well. If everything comes together, they could be near the top for 2011 NCAAs with Kilgore as a strong favorite for a title.

Hudson has about 127 career wins so far, and about 65 of those are Falls. He'll break Maryland's career win record before the Christmas break.

At last year's NCAAs he scored bonus point equal to a 5th place finish. He's kind of like having two scorers there!!

As for fast starts, Hudson is 8-0 so far, and just had his first decision of the year in the finals!
