Garth Lakitsky, who became the first wrestling state champion in Tamaqua High history, will play football next year at Lackawanna College, his wrestling coach Jim McCabe said Monday.

Lakitsky committed to play football at Lackawanna, a two-year junior college in Scranton, prior to winning the 215-pound Class 2A title at the PIAA wrestling championships in March. That title, coupled with his victory at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic in Pittsburgh, led Lakitsky to pursue visits and offers at several Division I wrestling programs across the country.

Ultimately, the Tamaqua senior decided to stick with football at Lackawanna. After playing at Lackawanna, Lakitsky hopes to pursue a scholarship at a Division I program.

    Hey Yak, all quiet here...

If David Taylor is going to move up to 165 next year not only will he have 3x All-American, NCAA Champ & World Team member Andrew Howe to contend with, but this as well

Big Ten: 165 gets just a bit tougher

Sanderson and his staff announced the newest class of Nittany Lion wrestlers. Eight talented young men are set to join the defending NCAA National Champions for the 2011-12 season (the incoming class could expand over the summer as well).

The class features a number of top-ranked high school wrestlers, including Intermat?s National High School Wrestler of the Year, and the eight incoming wrestlers combined to win 15 individual state championships during their prep careers.

Former Cyclone Matt Brown is among them coming back from a 2 year Mormon mission.

Penn State recruit & Intermat's #1 ranked recruit, Morgan McIntosh recently won California Junior FILAs competing at 211.5 (rather than 185) He looks like he has BULKED UP! FWIW, he won both GR & FS without giving up a single point. Can you say BEASTLY?
