Being a Cubs fan would keep you humble. I don't expect you'll ever be a PSU fan, but they've been a great school to root for in many sports, not the least of which is wrestling. Win or lose, I love 'em. BTW, I've been to more BB games at Wrigley field than in any other ball park and it's a great stadium!

The individuals shouldnt be focused on the team aspect of the tournament. If they all take care of their individual bracket the team will take care of itself. That's been the mantra at Iowa for a very long time and I'm pretty sure it's what every other coach preaches.

If you are a real "team" guy (especially one with three more shots at an individual title), I think you say "no".
Most wrestlers don't even think about the team championship because they have no way of attaining it. ASU wasn't going to win the championship no matter what happened. Wrestling is an individual sport for the wrestlers; for the coaches and fans it is a team sport. I'd rather have Bubba's season, it's not even a difficult question for me.

Herkey, if this is true, the team shouldn't care at all that they finished third. And if the team doesn't care about it, you and the other fans shouldn't either. I think we should stop looking at this as a black-or-white all-or-none situation. There are shades of gray here. I bet American felt pretty good about a 5th place finish this year.

And regarding Bubba trading in his individual championship - hell no. He wouldn't trade any personal achievement for a team one. Ever. I don't know Robles, but I'd be interested to hear what he says. Wrestling may be an individual sport when it comes to competition, but no wrestler wins an NCAA championship on his own.

Why shouldnt they care about where the team finishes? If they all take care of their own business and win a title the team aspect of the tournament will take care of itself. Also, American should feel good about a 5th place finish...Iowa shouldnt and doesnt. Iowa's, coaches, wrestlers and fans don't feel good about nationals unless they win it. I wouldnt expect you or anyone not close to Iowa wrestling to understand. Our expectations are just a little different then everyone elses.

And when I say that, I'm speaking matter of factly not boastfully.

KR - are those entries for University Nationals?
I'm a little surpeised to see Vollrath staying up. I thought 157 was his better competitive weight and would aim for 154.

    Da Komrad...
While DT says 165 for him is a done, Cael has said that it is not so all weights are fair game right now.
