As a Penn State fan, I am obviously excited about what we saw at the Scuffle this weekend. However, we havent truly won anything yet. Our goal obviously isntto win the Scuffle, it is to win it all in March. We arent there yet. The potential certainly appears to be there, however, until we see this potential come to fruition in March, that is all it is, unfulfilled potential. I am hopeful that they build from this weekend, culminating in a strong performance at the end of the year when it really counts. I am not an Iowa fan, but we certainly can learn from their successes. I just caution other Penn State fans from getting ahead of ourselves. We can and should be excited and optimistic, but we are still climbing the mountain.
I have not read a single post by a PSU fan that said we are ready to win it all . Just fans excited about the performance of the Lions so far and seeing the growth being developed by an excellent coaching staff. We are excited because we are climbing the mountain and taking some nice strides in this climb. It is the fact that we are excited that has irked the Iowa fans.
I think every Penn State fan should be excited, it should be noted that PSU tied the #1 ranked team in the country w/o Andrew Long in the lineup or Quentin Wright. This team culd really really make some noise in the future, but I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch! GO STATE!

I think once Long shakes off some rust he will put together a nice season, and should get pretty deep into NCAA's as might Grey, Taylor should score more points than Meagher, and Dake beat Molinaro anyway. I don't think this is a NC year for the Nittany Lions, but I do like what Cael is putting together. That weak point at 197 is pretty obvious.
Should there be any concern about Long being undersized at 133? He never impressed me as being extremely large at 125 but my best comparison is to McDonough (who is huge for the weight) since that is who I saw him wrestle against the most. Maybe this shouldnt be a concern at all but I do know that some accomplished wrestlers have stuggled with the move from 125 to 133.
I agree that 197 is a hole in the lineup.
I also am not completely sure 165 is solid. Kemmerer just hasnt shown much, in my opinion. He is super strong but struggles with getting his offense going against quality guys. Perhaps he is hurt by increased expectations driven by the early performances of Alton, Taylor and Ruth. Would Vollrath be a better option at 165 or is he too small?
Vollrath is a 57. Fischer is a 65. Cowburn is going to RS.
I have also had the thought that since some many of the true FS & RS FS are having stunning years, that Jake's season so far could be considered "disappointing" BUT in another program would be considered "normal". He is a freshman who has been ranked in the Top 20 & has a winning record. Most other programs would be thinking about how good is going be in 2 years.
Yes he beat Valimont in the pre-season intra-squad in 2009. Yes he beat Hatchett. I know he was beaten by Winston pretty handily but some of his other losses were close. He was sick a few weeks ago. DT has really benefited from working with Troy. I am hoping that JK will do the same eventually. Hopefully Jake isn't one of those kids who peaked in HS.
