I am almost willing to bet that Cael keeps Eddie @ 84 even though he said in an interview it would be on a match to match basis.

    125-Martelotti- GRADE: A
Improves with every match. Obviously wants to keep his job!

    133-Pearsall GRADE:A
What can you say about Cael's coaching when a kid goes from a 13-2 loss last year to beating the same wrestler 9-4 with an unexpected 4 point throw? Awesome.

    141-Andrew Alton GRADE:A+
The ALTONATOR strikes again...don't blink. Decked his opponent as the entrance music ended. You can't coach that!

    149-Molinaro GRADE:A
The Tank is back. His caveman yell after pinning Nemec was a testosterone-laden thing of beauty!!

    157-Taylor GRADE:A+
I called for a TF & almost got it. DT is showing that he IS someone to be reckoned with the manhandling of a ranked opponent.

    165-Fischer GRADE:B+
Filled in nicely for Jake who bumped up a weight. Solid performance.

    174-Kemerer GRADE: Didn't actually wrestle

    184-Ruth GRADE:A+
Went up a weight & just dominated with FUNK & GRACE. I loved watching him wrestle & I am sure everyone in Rec Hall is seeing what Coach was talking about in the preseason. The kid looks like he is going to be an artist out there.

    197-Ortega GRADE D
I don't get what's going on with a kid who works hard & beats all the competition in the room but has yet to score an offensive point in a dual all season.

    285-Wade GRADE:A
I think that Cam is coming into his own now & we shall see OFFENSE for PSU out the heavyweight position like we haven't seen since Kerry McCoy.

if they keep ruth at 84 what will they do with wright when he comes back? think he is big enough for 97? next year with mcintosh will have to sort itself out. maybe another summer of lifting will get wright to 97????

Ruth has been weighing in at 174, the plan is for him to stay there and then wrestle 184 in certain dual situations until Wright returns. After the tOSU match Cael stated that he just really thought that Ruth needed a match, so he bumped him up.

In my opinion Quentin Wright would be the best fit for PSU at 197 in the coming years. Wright is probably 6'3" and could easily fill out to 197 with the right lifting program and diet. However, McIntosh stated in an interview that he planned to redshirt next year and then go 197 the year after. Looking at McIntosh I don't think he is a 197 pounder. Physically he is already very filled out as a 189 in high school, and unless he grows a few inches I think his best college weight is 184.

So in the next few years the second half of the PSU lineup could look something like this:

    165: Taylor/Kemerer/Cowburn
    174: Ruth/Cowburn
    184: McIntosh/Wright/Ruth
    197: Wright/McIntosh
    285: Wade . . . Gingrich/Campbell

IF (and that is a big IF) Ruth does stay @ 184, when Wright comes back Eddie will just go back down to 174, real simple.

According to some guys in SC, Wright's healing is ahead of schedule.

Also Pataky has been entered into the Scuffle.

Here is this week's interview with the coaching staff. This week it's HC Cael Sanderson.

Ok guys how many wrestlers can you ID in the background?

Take a look @ the 2:10 mark & see if you can't see Andrew Long getting a drink @ the fountain.

kr, I am new to this website, indirectly referred to it by you when you posted a recent link to it on the Fight On State wrestling forum. Upon reading the thread on the Wrestling Talk forum re: predictions of the Taylor-Sponseller match, I was struck by the lack of personal accountability by posters "JensenS" and "Zap Brannigan" after each of them demonstrated strong disdain for your opinion/prediction that Taylor would tech fall Sponseller. Brannigan focused on the technicality that the 14-1 victory was not a TF. "JensenS" (who had offered his opinion that your prediction was "absolutely ridiculous", then accused you of being a Taylor homer and, as such, stated he would no longer discuss the matter with you) responded that he did not use the term "LOL" re: pre-match attack on those who predicted Taylor would win handily (a straw man created by him because nobody did accuse HIM of using this term, although a Buckeye fan did use this term). In other words, neither of them "man-upped" about their pre-match disdain for your prediction of Taylor's dominance. I thought of pointing this out to them and the board, but then thought, as a "virgin responder" and, therefore knowing little of their previous contributions and apparent board stature, calling them on their failure to take responsibility for their error, while correct, may be crossing a fairness boundary.

Thus, I am interested in knowing the history of these posters, in terms of their "board character." Based on my observation of your "Fight On State" posts, I respect your opinion and your ability to be fair-minded in your response, despite their expressed disdain for your opinion on the Taylor matter.
