ANOTHER REASON FOR B10 expansion to GO EAST YOUNG MAN????

Which Football School Has the Most Alums in NYC? - WSJ.com

New York City loves its sports teams. The Yankees, the Knicks, and, uh, the Penn State Nittany Lions?

Since no college football powerhouses reside in the five boroughs (sorry, Fordham Rams), we set out to determine which non-local football school has the biggest alumni contingent in the city. Among the 30 schools surveyed, Penn State was tops with 23,000 alumni in the metro New York area, according to their alumni association. Michigan, one of Penn State's Big Ten rivals, fared well, too, with 12,592. Meanwhile, the Southeastern Conference, whose teams dominate on the field, has few schools with a significant number of alumni. This disparity is also reflected in TV ratings. Six of the top 10-rated games in the New York market last season were Big Ten games while only one of the top 10 featured an SEC team.

The alumni numbers may signal why college football isn't a priority in the city—after all, traditional basketball mecca Georgetown has six times as many alumni in the area as Alabama, the No. 1 football team in the land. But there are still plenty of college football-obsessed alumni to make Saturdays in New York an event.

"If you want to see the popularity of college football in New York, all you need you to do is make your way from bar to bar on a Saturday afternoon," said New Meadowlands Stadium CEO Mark Lamping, who is in charge of scheduling college games at the new stadium. "You move from block to block and there are SEC fans, Big 10 fans, Pac-10 fans."

The Meadowlands can expect a few more fans, as well. Three of the schools with high alumni figures—Penn State, Southern California and Notre Dame—will play there in the next four years.

Here is a sampling of some big football programs' alumni in metro New York City, according to their respective alumni associations.

From what I understand on the FOS message board it is the opposite, Andrew will redshirt and Dylan will compete. Since Dylan is a little bigger he would only have to cut to 141 for this year, redshirt next year, and prepare to replace Molinaro at 149 in 2012-2013.

Not surprising since PSU has the largest alumni organization in the country. It is one of the reasons PSU agreed to go with Indiana to for a game in Washington DC. There is a huge alumni count there too. BTW that is technically an Indiana home game.

It would seem to me that one of the Altons would HAVE to wrestle in order for neither of them to have to sit a year on the bench.

    Morgan McIntosh Pledges to PSU

Coming off a banner recruiting class in Cael Sanderson’s first season scouting talent for PSU, the Lions made waves again Monday when they scooped what is perhaps the most coveted upper-weight in the country.

While last year’s class was dominated by in-state talent, Cael couldn’t have went any farther to get this blue-chipper.
Morgan McIntosh, of famed Calvary Chapel HS, in California, has given his verbal commitment to continue his career at Penn State. McIntosh already owns two state titles, at 171 and 189lbs, as a sophomore and junior, respectively.

This summer he won the Freestyle portion of USA Wrestling’s Junior National in 189lbs. It was his 3rd finals appearance in Fargo overall. He also moved up in age group at the Fila Jr. National Championships in Ohio this summer. McIntosh placed 3rd, splitting matches with future teammate, Ed Ruth.

Morgan was ranked as our #1 184lb recruit in our Top Prospect Report last week, He joins our #1 125lb prospect, Megaludis, also a Fargo finalist, as #1 recruits in the class of 2011 for Penn St.
