He also said that he thinks it will be hard for al the east coast kids to turn him down & that he expects the Iowa-PSU rivalry to really pick up over the next few years.

    Interesting...

Molinaro, Sanderson have opposite endings - Wrestling | Centre Daily Times - State College, PA

Iowa fans like to crow that they own wrestling, almost as if they invented the sport. Well, every year Pennsylvania leads, by far, in number of qualifiers. This year was no different.

However, this year Iowa can lay claim to supremacy in one area — number of finalists. The Hawkeye State had the most finalists, four. Two other states have two each — New York and New Jersey. Twelve other states also claim a finalist.
A total of 15 states produced the 20 finalists.

For the first time in recent memory, Pennsylvania won’t have a finalist.
The Keystone State does lead in number of All-Americans with eight. New York and New Jersey are next with seven each. Iowa has six, followed by California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota with four each. A total of 26 states, and Russia, produced the 80 All-Americans. This year’s All-Americans are comprised of 34 seniors, 21 juniors, 16 sophomores and nine freshmen.

The Big Ten, again, sets the pace with number of All-Americans with 27. The Big XII is next with 15, followed closely by the EIWA (12) and then Pac-10 (7), MAC (6), ACC (5), EWL (3), West Region (3) and CAA (2).

Taylor, Wright, Platt & Wade all advance to the semis assuring themselves of no worse then a 6th place finish.

    Taylor faces Pavlou of Chattanooga.
    Wright faces Trotman of Mountaineer.
    Platt faces Delaney of Falcon.
    Wade faces Lester of Columbia.

Ruth loses in QF loses to Fausey in WBs. Eliminated.
Kemerer advances in WBs, but loses to Cubberly. Eliminated.
Both needed just one more win to place but will go home with no medal.

Blanton actually advances in WB & will medal.

It's too bad Pataky & Molinaro didn't wrestle. Might have seen Jenkins vs Frank!

Taylor in2 the Final with a TF.
Wright in2 the Final with a :44 Fall over Trotman.
    Platt in2 the Final with a 6-0, 4-0 win!

    Wade loses 4-1, 5-3. In2 Consi semis.

    Taylor & Wright 1st
    Platt True 2nd
    Wade 4th

Ruth beat Blanton who ended up true 2nd @ 185. The 2 others who beat Ruth finished 4th & 6th. While I am sure Ed is disappointed he didn't medal, his showing was very respectable & he 1-2 vs 3 medal winners. It will be very interesting to see if he can indeed cut the weight to 74 & still be as effective. I still think that this shows that Ruth has the potential to AA as a RS Fr.
