Rehm had a good showing at the PSAC last week so
I am going to say that Nico "only" majors him.

I think Pearsall looked much improved vs his NLO showing.

Interesting to see Dylan vs former Nittany Lion Kemerer again.
Dylan won a 1 point match @ the NLO.
Let's see if he can open it up a bit.

On paper the rest of the dual looks like a wipe out.
But honestly I do not know much about the LHU kids at this point.

As far as I know PSU has shut out LHU the 2 previous duals.
I don't know what the record is for remaining undefeated vs a particular opponent
or if such a record exists but I am predicting PSU stretches it out
to at least 30 wins in a row here.

    Low points:
BP getting nothing going on his feet and little on top - loss.
    Andrew Alton looking completely gassed.

    High points:
Conaway looked terrific, much faster than his opponent.
Quentin showing the Q of old and getting a nice roll to "What do you call that?" pin

Quote of the day, (heard from the stands):

    You Can't Handle The Ruth!

Side note: Taylor looked much, much better. He moved more in the first 45 seconds of this match than he did in the first 6 minutes of the last one. Nice to have him back.

I'm not sure if anyone else has posted/confirmed this, but today's CDT says the coaching staff plans to keep the Altons out for at least a month, and then they will need to earn back their spots. The article was a nice, if short, read on English and Vollrath.

A couple folks had speculated on the time of the suspension, this is the first I have seen that seems to be from the coaches.

I've been wondering what the fallout was going to be. Thanks for the update Blue.

PSU defeats Mich St 41-0. PSU has finally settled the Hwt question when a couple of days ago Gingrich beat Lawson in a challenge match 3-1 with a late TD. Today Gingrich upset #4 McLure 5-3. Gingrich has now beaten Chalfant and McLure this year.

    thoughts from Rec Hall Today:
I missed Nico's match, but since he can to th TF, it seems like a solid match for him
Conaway wrestled a really steady match. It was definitely a match he should win if he is looking to score some points in the post season. Couldn't quite get the major, but the only points he gave up were allowed escapes.
Pearsall looked fine, and actually got a couple takedowns (hallelujah). It looked like he got his knee banged up late in the second or early in the third. He finished solidly, but definitely looked in pain at a couple points and I think that slowed him enough to not get the major. I wouldn't guess this is something that will be more than sore for a couple days.
English looked good in every position. Not a dominant guy yet, but he looks better each match. He surprises me with his quickness, not that I ever thought he was slow, but he can really improve his position fast.
Vollrath probably had the best on-paper match up. He defended a decent shot, then later took a good one of his own but gave up the first TD on a solid counter by Cheza. It was a good move by the taller senior. After that, Vollrath was never really in danger, picking up the winning TD with about 10 seconds left. A solid win solidifying him as a likely top 8-15 guy.
Taylor did exactly what he should do - he still lets people into his legs as he focuses on his own offense - but he scores from there as well as any where. As a side note, my wife called him getting the pin at 1:28, but it was at 1:38. I picked 2:32 and lost.
Brown absolutely beats the life out of people. He will be amazing when he really develops his collegiate wrestling skills. Right now, I'd say his skill level is top 15-20 at his weight, but I'd rank him #1 at all weights at ending his opponent's will to wrestle.
Ruth just owned the guy. Once again, no matter what position you have Ruth in, he is in control. It is better if you realize and accept it.
Q had a good old time with his guy. MSU's 197 is not a big, strong looking kid, so Wright threw in a bunch of locks, step-behinds, and even went to the split scissors twice (scoring backs once, OB on the second). I wonder if we will see that more and more as the season progresses.

And then there was Jon Gingrich - what a match! On paper, the worst match up going against the current #4. He did a great job of controlling the ties through the first period. McClure took the only shot of the first period with about 15 seconds left, JG held great position and never was in danger. Even with not shooting, clearly both guys were active and working - it was a good first period for JG. Both guys chose down and got out pretty quickly (McClure in a super-fast-for-a-heavyweight 3 seconds, JG in about 10). JG got a stall warning, then got a little more active with half to 3/4 shots. Finally, McClure committed to a shot and JG countered beautifully, blasting through both legs, lifting, and actually holding him on his back for 2 backs. He piut in a decent ride, picking up about 35 seconds of RT. McClure did got the (marginally questionable) stall point late in the third, but he was never close to getting the TD. Right now, JG looks like his best offense is from countering shots. He looked really good doing it, he just needs to be active enough to avoid the stall calls.

Overall, it was a really good match - it's hard to pick anything to really pick on.
The atmosphere was outstanding. For a not-so-competitive match, the building was full and the crowd was loud. A great way to spend the afternoon.

What does it take to kill this thread? Where's our hacker friend when we need him?
"He beat nobodies..Thorn at 133 won't be great, R12 or worse imo...
    I just don't see it...David Thorn is not elite. I don't think he'll place"

I don't understand Jammen. I thought non-PSU fans liked having everything about PSU on one thread so that they could avoid it and not have it spill over into other threads. But you're right, our "hacker friend" hasn't been around for a while.

I hate having to read through 158 pages every time I want to catch up on the Nittany Lions.
