I agree, no way Long comes back. As much as I would love to have his talent in the lineup Cael would be crazy to bring him back.

Anyone notice our boys wrestled a lot fewer matches this season? Okay maybe not a lot, like 5-8 fewer, but still a bit less than last year. Was this done on purpose and will next year be the same?

How many more matches would they have wrestled if they participated in the national duels again this year? That alone may be the difference.

Are we expecting to participate in the Duals next year?

Had we wrestled in the Duals it would likely have been 4 more matches. However the 2 Duals weekends we wrestled one dual each, so it would only have been a net increase of 2 matches had we gone to the National Duals.

I don't think we wrestle as many tournaments as some of the other teams (or multiple duals in 1 day). Last year we wrestled in the Sprawl & Brawl which had 3 duals in 1 day, and the Va Duals. We didn't do either of those this year. Don't know if it's intentional or not to reduce the # of matches. I for one, hope we can work out the National Duals differences to be a part of it next year. But I'm not in favor of a 2-weekend format! I would like it to go back to a 1-weekend in January format like in the past.

    Wow Matt Brown!
With zero years of varsity competition, he earns a spot in the US Team Trials in April by finishing second this weekend.

I think he might be ok in folkstyle too. We'll see.

Browns obviously legit in both styles.
    Go Hawkeyes.

Brown's supposed to be a great kid too (I guess not so much of a kid anymore).

Note: Glad to see that we got our thread back from the Nazis! I think Vais's prayer had something to do with it.

If it was Vais, thank you!

Matt Brown has a big advantage in being a little older than other college wrestlers. Think Ade for Penn State in the mid-90s. I remember watching Ade wrestle against a kid from Lehigh (true sophomore) that I had coached at the junior high level - it was clearly man against boy.

Naysayers about PSU's chances to top their point total of this year in next year's National's don't give enough credit to Brown (especially Brown) and Lawson (admittedly more of a ? than Brown, but I'm pretty confident he'll exceed 2.5 points at Nationals). If things line up right for PSU, which they haven't the last two years, 170 is in danger.
