Close by Sponseller there on that high crotch, King did a really nice job kicking away.

    Still 3-1 King I think.

Sponseller escapes to start the third to make it 3-2, then walks right into another bear hug on the edge that King converts into a TD and 2 backs.

7-2 King with about a minute left.

King wins, final score looked like it might have been something like 8-5.

Sponseller escaped after the 4 pointer and picked up a TD to get the rest of his points.

King looks better then he did most of last year. That title appears to have given a lot of confidence.

I was thinking the same thing, he looked very good today.

Lit up the two guys that he was supposed to light up, and then had a solid win over a tough opponent in Sponseller who had beaten him in their two previous meetings.

It's kind of like what happened to Leen. Leen was a solid wrestler, but after he upset his way to the title as an 8 seed, the next year, he looked like he had gone up a level, especially from a consistency standpoint.

James wins in OT at 174.

    Mike Pucillo v. Dustin Kilgore

1st Period: Pucillo with a big swipe at the head off the whistle...both guys hand fighting in pretty tight right now. Kilgore working with what looks like an underhook, tries a knee pick and they go out. Kilgore reaches for another shot but they go out again. Pucillo shoots a single, but Kilgore sprawls and doesn't let him get in. Both guys hand fighting in the middle of the mat. Half shot by Kilgore, Pucillo nearly made him pay with his front head...but Kilgore skips back up to his feet. Period ends scoreless.

2nd Period: Kilgore starts down. Tripods up and he's out quickly for the escape...1-0 Kilgore, and Kilgore works around on a front headlock for the TD, and he looks like he may have gotten two backs off a scramble. If he didn't then he should have, so we'll call it 5-0 Kilgore right now...Kilgore drops right down to try and work his cradle off the restart, Pucillo stands but Kilgore keeps the leg and trips him back down. Pucillo escapes out quick and goes right to his front headlock...5-1 Kilgore. Period ends 5-1 Kilgore.

3rd Period: Pucillo starts down...Kilgore again tries his cradle off the whistle and had it locked for a second, but Pucillo up and out...5-2 Kilgore. Single attempt by Pucillo, Kilgore sprawls, and he comes right back with his left hand high crotch and Kilgore sprawling again. Pucillo again with the left hand high crotch, and this time Kilgore blocks him out in front with his head hands and doesn't even let him near the leg...and the match ends.

Dustin Kilgore dec Mike Pucillo 5-2
