Yeah, but the joke was really about Matt. This was right in line with the type of jokes made by, like, Cradle or headshuck. Good stuff.

I would say that in the interest of being fair you have to take those into consideration. Iowa is putting together a fantastic class of 2010, but that's because they will have a lot of money freed up after this year. PSU doesn't have quite as many top 50 guys this year (though they are right up there), but look at how much they got for their money in the class of 2009. You don't get Taylor, Ruth, Kemerer, and (I can't remember the other guy who originally committed to ISU) for free.

You say that he's not Tom Brands, and that's true--he isn't the one who's coached to 2 national titles, and arguments could be made that Cael hasn't gotten his wrestlers to reach their potential. That is Brands' specialty. However, in the land of recruiting, Cael and John Smith have done far better than anyone else.

PSU's 2 year group is incredible. Definitely better than Iowa's (or anyone else's) in the same time frame.

David Taylor was the guy that originally committed to ISU. Maybe there was another but I don't remember.

Iowa's two year haul isnt quite as acclaimed at the high school level as PSU's but they arent too shabby.

Dylan Carew, Ethan Lofthouse, Tony Ramos, Nick Trizzino, Derek St. John, Jacob Ballweg, Nick Moore, Bobby Telford, Josh Dzeiwa, Anthony Baldosero, and Mike Evans.

The big question is, who can keep this up for an extended period of time. Who can get the kids to go to their school when the money is at a minimum. No one knows who has what for money, you can only speculate so we may never know. Looks like OSU has had a huge drop off in recruiting so far this year after a big two year run.

You also never know which kids will pan out and which ones wont.

BTW what lost said was out of line like most of the things he says. I don't mind someone that has an opinion but to be a jerk and throw cheap shots at people is not called for. His arrogance has no limits.

There was another ISU guy in addition to Taylor (and no I don't mean Sanderson).

Also, isn't Lofthouse going on a LDS mission instead of wrestling at Iowa?

Jamie Clark left and went to Illinois.

Lofthouse is going on an LDS mission then going to Iowa when he gets back.

It's Luke Macchiaroli I was thinking of. Not as highly touted as the others, but another good recruit nonetheless.

I thought all the PA kids were going to go to Penn St now that Cael is there. Guess Dzeiwa, Evans, Peppleman and Kindig never got that memo.

If you did a little more research you'd find out that Peppleman was Cornell's to lose as Marshall has been going to Cornell camps since he was young. Rob Koll grew up in State College so he is not much of a reach for him to recruit in PA. This is why Cael focused on Taylor, The Altons & Cowburn. Then he got Kemmerer as a bonus.

Cael already had his middleweights filled out by the time Kindig made up his mind to go to OSU. He would be battleing Taylor, the Altons, Kemmerer & Cowbrurn for a spot.

Dzeiwa committed to Rutgers then switched. Again another middleweight.

Evans was the one kid PSU wanted as he is upper weight along with Telford. PSU already has Ruth, Wright & Macchiaroli in 184/197 though they thinner at those weights right now then anywhere else.

I will bet by the time it is all said & done PSU & Iowa will be #1 & #2 in next years recruiting class.

I mispoke earlier. Lofthouse is at Iowa this year and then taking his mission trip for two years after that. He will be back for the 2012-2013 season.
