Dolly lost in the AA round this past year, so I could see where he and Fay have the best shot.

I think Washington is gonna make some noise this year. Anyone know if he is healthy after that freak accident in practice?

Fay's a certainty ... and did I really read some of those names as "outside chances?"

I'm all about supporting and being positive of one's program, but jeez.

I personally don't know, but he is definitely on this year's roster and listed at 141. Assuming that all of this is true, he will be their 141 pounder.

I know that the little time that he wrestled varsity last year he struggled with staying at 133 (he's really tall), so 141 should be the perfect weight for him.

Let's talk when the season gets going.

Tell us what you know about those "outside chances" that would keep them from being potential AA's. You apparently know a lot about them.

Sad - school doesn't let out until the 20th, so no mid-December trip to Cedar Falls for me. Maybe I'll make the niece go and take pictures.

Trenton is definitely there and healthy. He was wrestling 100 percent by the mid-spring last year. He was much bigger after a year of college lifting so 133 was definitely out of the question. Pickerell is now listed at 157 so I think he and Reiner will have some great goes to see who is the man there. Charlie and Jamall should make it interesting at 149. UNI is thin in the uppers though only one 184 lber, Hazen listed and one 197 Anderson, if either of them go down it will be real bad. Don't know what happened to O'Loughlin.

Pickerell and Reiner is unfortunate, as one of them will have to sit. Both should be in the lineup.

Same goes for 149. As much as I like Ettelson, he likely won't beat Lawrence in head to head competition. Lawrence may be one of the most talented wrestlers that UNI has.

I'm speaking in the grand scheme of things ... Fay's a proven winner, while some of the other guys you've mentioned are obviously talented enough to be starters on the Division I level. I have a good relationship with Brad, so I'm hopeful his teams do well, but unfortunately, I'm an overall realist. The depth of those weights and past experiences do skew my rationale, because until wrestlers do something to show they're "ready" for that type of All-American season, I'm hard-pressed to anoint anyone as "outside chance."

Throwing names out is an easy way to say "I called this, I predicted that." Now, that's not a bad thing -- because you're making a very respectable comment with Brantley, because I do think he has a shot this year, based on his talent level and the returning talent at heavyweight. You could be ranked 15th and place Top 8 because with the draws, you don't have to wrestle the other 14 guys ahead of you.

Dolly was, at least to me, a surprise Round of 12 guy last year. That right there says he's got the potential to be on that level, but a look at his draw shows Gabe Dretsch as the only notable victory en route. I realize wrestlers have no say in the draw, so like Kenny Robertson of EIU a few years ago -- a Round of 12 guy -- who didn't duplicate the effort the next season.

Washington is a bit of an unknown entity outside of Cedar Falls -- I saw him wrestle in high school and he had some quality wins last year before his season was prematurely cut short, but sustaining that over the course of a whole season (as we know) is another story, especially with kids who aren't battle-tested as yet on the Division I level.

Anderson's been around forever, but while he's been to the show several times, there isn't much to really support (on paper) an AA run. But kids can get hot at the right time.

With my alma mater, there's a return of one All-American and six other returning NCAA qualifiers. Of those six, I think two are outside chances based on talent and overall wins (C. Brown, R. Williams) during the course of their careers.

Just speaking in terms of realism, rather than best case scenarios.
