# Thread: Odds of Iowa Winning it all

1. ## Odds of Iowa Winning it all

If you were a bookie and had to set serious odds on Iowa winning the title, what would it be.

Even Money

3. ## Re: Odds of Iowa Winning it all

am I setting odds for Iowa vs the field? if so I'd say slightly less than even money.

4. ## Re: Odds of Iowa Winning it all

wow. So you guys only think there is a 50% chance Iowa wins it this year? Or Less?

I would have thought this years team would inspire more confidence

5. ## Re: Odds of Iowa Winning it all

Even money where I am from means you bet \$10 and win , you get \$10 back -a sure thing . i don't see anyone save Cornell coming within 15 points of them .

Yes that is what it means payton. But statistically for "even money" to be accurate an event has a 50% chance of occuring. If we were to flip a coin it would be for even money, because each side has a 50% chance of landing. Hence 1:1

If we were betting on whether a dice would come up on a six the correct odds would be 5:1, because there is only a 1/6 chance a dice will land on a 6, and a 5/6 chance it wont.

So when you say you would put iowa as even money you are telling me there is only a 50% chance in your mind that they win a title.

God damn LoSt, you are like my wife. You ask my opinion and then try to give it to me anyway.

8. ## Re: Odds of Iowa Winning it all

The correct answer of course is that it depends on whether LoSt has money on them or not. If YOU have money on them, I say the odds are 3:1, if YOU are betting against them I say its 1:3.

So would we all agree that 4:1 is too high?
