LoST, when you've actually had YOUR knee taken apart and then put back together, then we'll talk about whether a repaired wheel is as good as a God-given wheel............having had both of mine taken apart a total of 9 times, I think that I know what I'm talking about.

I agree with JensenS, I'm not going to try to get into someone's head let alone ascribe loss of motivation to someone that I don't know and haven't talked to about the subject.

At 184, if David Craig actually wrestles this year for Lehigh, I like his chances as a dark horse. Since he didn't wrestle at all last year due to Academic problems, not sure what his status is for this year or what kind of shape he's in.

Look Im sorry but the facts just dont bear out what you are trying to say... you're saying that because of an injury his freshman year he was never the same afterwards. The fact is he was the #1 ranked guy in the country several times and right there in the mix for a title for three years in a row.

Are you saying that if he hadnt hurt his knee freshman year he would have steamrolled everyone else in the field?

If you want to say his losses at NCAAS were due to in-season injuries then thats one thing, but blaming it all on something that happened three years ago seems silly to me, Im sorry, and I say that knowing how serious knee injuries can be
    Gold is an idiot.

There were rumors (from people with Minny connections) that Dustin's mental state and/or "drive" was off after the loss at the Scuffle, and semi-related to his absence at Duals at least. However, since he came back to the lineup, those with the Minny connections had nothing but praise for Dustin, so there is no doubt in my mind that when he came back into the lineup, he had it all back together (mentally) or it was never an issue in the first place.

49 and 57 were the toughest ones to do given all the rumor about weight changes and redshirts. If everyone who is rumored to be going up to 57 does, that is going to easily be the sickest weight this year.
The list does not include enough Oklahoma State cowboys, I think you have underestimated what John Smith can do with raw talent.

I think you are overestimating the raw talent of some of the guys on the okie state team.

I've heard good things about parks but I'm not sold on silver, fuentes was sub .500 last year I believe.
Hill proved nothing last year I dont think anyone is expecting a ton out of mcneil, and foster showed some talent but I dont see him as an AA contender as of right now

I could see okie state having four AAs this year tops, and I think two or three is more likely

I've said before I've picked Max Askren to win this weight each of the last two years, and despite the fact that I've been wrong both times I see little to no reason to start stopping now. After going 0-2 as a #1 seed as a freshman he came back with a nice season last year to earn his first AA finish in an absolutely brutal weight class that was overshadowed by the historically good 149. Last year he beat Bertolino three times including once by fall, Tamillow twice, and Brester twice including a major. He also majored Darren Burns to gain a little vengeance for Burns having eliminated him as a freshman, and then had other assorted wins over Bond, Koz, Lapotsky, Foster (maj), and Flaggert. This weight has a lot of new blood in it this year, so it'll be interesting to see how he and the rest of the returning 97 pounders deal with them.

Speaking of new blood, I think Varner winds up in the finals for the third time at this new weight class. Despite being one of the most hated wrestlers in the country you just can't deny the resume. He built off his upset win over Kish in the semi's two years ago with three more wins over him last year. He also had three wins over Christian Sinnott, and two over both Weitzel and Jensen. He pinned former NCAA finalist Travis Pascoe, and beat Herbert en route to winning Midlands and then had other assorted wins over Keddy, Chriswell, Jordan, and Jones. Hes got a terrific room situation for an upperweight with Ward, Zabriskie, and that Cael guy. How he reacts to getting outbrickwalled last year in the finals will be interesting to see if he switches his style up at all.

I'll be ducking the lighting bolt from WT about picking Taylor to finish this coming year where he wound up last year even after picking him to upset Varner at the All Star match. Last year he had two wins over Brent Jones a pin and a major, he had a fall over Villers, and then majors over Darren Burns and Cayle Byers. His best wins came during his great NCAA run when he beat Flaggert in the second round, and then in the consi's after losing to Davis he beat Bertolino, Glenn, and Brester all in a row to take his third place finish. I just can't pick him over my boy Max, and then I hadn't looked at just how good a year Varner had last year in terms of the guys that he beat.

I'll be very interested to see how Tyrel Todd does up at this new weight now that hes free of the constant thorn in his side that was Mike Pucillo. After he pinned him in the Vegas finals last year he still went on to lose to him several times over the course of the year. Other than the pin over Pucillo he had three wins over Keddy, two over Sinnott, and two over Caputo. He pinned Chriswell, majored Caponi, and Murphy, then had assorted wins over Umbehauer, Smith, and Jordan. Had a great run to come back and take 3rd last year after getting knocked off by Jones last year in the second round.

Brester was another one of the several guys who wrestled significantly above their seeds last year at this weight when he finished 4th. Last year he had two wins over Flaggert and Rovelli, and then assorted wins over Foster, Bond, Askren, and Herbst.

Dallas Herbst has come a long way over these last two years from losing to a 180 pound Mitch Kuhlman. That guy, and the guy who made the quarters last year after wrestling for 77 seconds aren't even remotely the same guy. Last year he absolutely woodshedded the guy I'm picking to win this weight in the Vegas finals, just kicked the crap out of Askren went up by a lot and then pinned him. He had two wins over Bertolino including one by fall, and then had other assorted wins over Villers (maj), Taylor, Flaggert, and Bond.

Bond managed to breakthrough last year and have a nice regular season, just wound up having a rough go of things at NCAA's. Last year he had wins over. His best wins last year were over Foster and Herbst. I think he takes advantage of the semi cleared out state of this weight after the top 6 and becomes an AA for the first time.

Arnone will probably slip under the radar for the early part of the year since he Ivy-shirted last year I believe (that or he was hurt), but hes already AA'd at 184 two years ago, and I think he comes back and does it again this year. He upset Pucillo at NCAA's that year when Pucillo had beaten everyone that year except for Herbert and Kish.

Top 6 at this weight were ridiculously tough to do. These guys are so close to each other both from their resumes and from what I've seen when I've seen them all wrestle.

Interesting question for Jensen. Looking at your original picks for 125, you had Obe in 4th. Now you have him as missing AA. What has changed?
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

I agree. A few months with Smith and the only raw things will be skin and ambition.

He's also a bit hard on Hawkeyes, but I like that at this point in the season.
So this is the year that Dustin does it again? Be careful ice fishing with that Minny Koolaid. It can melt the finish right off my granddad's John Deere.
