As a Washington State native (though I live on the other side of the State and coach at a different school size) I can say that Garcia is one of those rare kids that whenever you watch him wrestle you know that he has what it takes to compete at the next level. I was had mixed emotions about him going straight to the OTC. I am glad that he's going to OSU, however I do wish it was OREGON State University instead of Ohio.

![]() | He was probably the most dominant fargo champ. Double tech in the finals.

There have been other kids that are 4 time state champs and were finalist @ Fargo and didnt break the top twenty. In college they beat Conrad Polz, Tim Darling 3x pa champ, Jason Lampham among others their first RS year

Mr. Asper let me just say that I'm glad to have you posting here, and I hope you keep coming by. There are several posters on here who have posted how they're very excited to see how your son does this year. However, I'm having trouble recognizing what your son's very stellar results last year as a redshirt (beating Polz, Darling, and Lapham) have to do with what he (or Derek Garcia for that matter) was ranked coming out of high school. I ask again, who would you put above Garcia that is currently ranked below him on this list? |

It was my understanding that was a overall ranking of all weights, and I don,t know who would be higher, I know he is a great wrestler and I have just been frustrated with the ranking system and should not post sometimes. My son beat Lothouse and West with a torn PCL and still didn,t recieve the ranking he should have. This year should correct all the previous oversights...

Fair enough sir. With your son being as talented as he is I can definitely understand some frustration if/when you feel as though he isn't getting the credit that he deserves, but like you say Josh should have ample opportunity this year to show people how good he is. I hope you keep coming by through out the year because like I said, there will be quite a few posters on here watching his progress. |
