And unless I'm missing something, you just made a very personal attack on the family member of a fellow poster - neither of whom you actually know. I was reasonably sure that that was not acceptable on this forum.

Sweet lord just when I think I can let my guard down on this place people have a freak out. Do you think I really have a problem with lawyers? I know and have befriended many and I thought lawyer jokes were pretty common. This place had an entire thread devoted to making fun of irish people, and I make one comment about a poster I get along well with and people flip out.

And who the heck has a family member who is a lawyer who does pro bono work with kids with lead poisoning? I just re-read the thread, and couldn't find anything to that effect. I can't believe I have to explain that I think lawyers are good. You guys really pick and choose about when you're going to have a sense of humor.

You meant just Zap? I thought you meant all lawyers. I didn't realize the joke. I've told lawyer jokes too (to lawyers no less) but I kept them within a context. Lawyers are like everyone else. There's some sleaze and there's saints.

Omatches is inference to how many matches I have wrestled. I started watching and following wrestling since 1972. Was a middle school wrestling coach for six years(one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done) high school assistant coach for four years. Have been married for 44 years. I train horses and my wife trains assistance dogs(recently trained a rotweiler for a Iraq vet with brain trauma) they are doing very well in Iowa. I am from Indiana, 64 years old and enjoy following wrestling.

I'm Jason Bryant, most of you know this ... I'm from Poquoson, Va., and discovered wrestling after moving there from Newport News. Didn't see my first match until I was 15 (Poq. beat Deep Creek 36-33). The Virginia Duals got me hooked back in 1995. Was "on the team" at then nationally-ranked Poquoson for my last two years. Wasn't good. Started covering wrestling when I was a sophomore in high school and have been covering it ever since. Went to Old Dominion University for seven years, have a B.S. in Communications with a minor in journalism. Started working at a newspaper when I was 17 and worked there for 8 years, covering a litany of sports, but primarily wrestling. I turned 30 in August. Ran InterMat for three years, moved to Minnesota to work with the Wrestling 411 project and I'm currently freelancing. Was only one of three media members to cover FOUR national championships last year (Kyle Klingman and John Johnson were the other two), and I'm an avid disc golfer and music/movie buff. During the summer, I probably saw two-three movies a week. I've been to Fargo 12 times, covering the Junior Nationals 11 times, but I never wrestled in the event. It holds the streak for longest current tournament attended. Previous record was the Virginia Duals, attending from 1995-2007. Will be back in 2010. FACTOID: When I started Mat Talk On-Line in Virginia, our own Gripsnhips was the first wrestler I interviewed for the site. True story.

And I'm Gantry Zettler, 32 years old from Chicago. I never wrestled, but followed my best buddy all through high school and his little brother going into college. Around 1999 I went to my first Midlands and haven't missed one since. Been to every NCAAs since 2001 or so as well. Went to Northern Illinois and got to see them put out some darn tough wrestlers such as Scott Owen & Ben Heizer during my time there. I'm hoping they get back to that level shortly. I run a computer business in the Chicago area and spent way too much time on message boards, including one I run for the old Nintendo game RBI Baseball. |
