Default WIN Preseason D-1 Rankings

W.I.N. releases preseason Div. I rankings and T.P.I.

W.I.N. Magazine
09/02/2008

NEWTON, Iowa — Wrestling International Newsmagazine (W.I.N.) has released its NCAA Div. I Preseason Dual Team ranking, a Top-20 rating of all 10 individual weights and this season’s initial Tournament Power Index (T.P.I.) of where teams could finish in next March’s NCAA Div. I Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

Iowa, the defending Div. I champion in both the NWCA National Duals and the NCAA tournament, has been tabbed as the favorite in both events this year.

Among the individual rankings, five returning champs — Indiana’s Angel Escobedo at 125, Ohio State’s J Jaggers at 141, Iowa’s Brent Metcalf, Cornell’s Jordan Leen at 157 and Ohio State’s Mike Pucillo at 184 — are ranked No. 1 at their respective weights.

W.I.N. Div. I rankings will be released on a weekly basis beginning Dec. 1, 2008. Any additional media outlets that would like to receive these rankings should contact W.I.N. editor Mike Finn at mikef@win-magazine.com.

I'm not sure all those guys are going at 149. Bubba is reshirting and I thought a few guys were moving up like Caldwell.

i know we have alot of holes in our line-up and that we have some younger guys but pretty surprised that a Zach Sanders and a Scott Glasser can't break the Top 20 for the Gophers.

Aiming to finalize sign ups and then get the draft done by the beginning of October at the absolute latest. I'm trying to find a sweet spot as to where it'll be far enough away from the season start to where we can get it finished before competition gets going, while close enough to where people can be generally educated about weights and position battles.

As of right now we'll have eleven people returning from last year, with three spots to fill.

Yeah, it'll last multiple days hopefully not nine like last year. Four or so would be ideal. I've kept all the phone numbers that I had last year, but before the draft I'll verify them and solicit numbers from everyone else.
