Heavy's does not have Eric Nye Arizona State ranked University Games Greco Champ. I think he will be an AA. I also heard that Wayne Sauer of Fullerton has reinjured his knee and is done.

It was Sauer's neck, which he injured against Reece Hopkin of Northern Colorado in one of the last duals of the year. Nye won California CC's ... gonna take more than that and a University Greco title to get ranked -- although heavyweight is pretty poor overall.

The man flying under the radar all year at 285...Christian Brantley from UNI.

    You heard it here first.

I agree a CC championship and a university Games Title in Greco should not get him ranked. Looking at this years Heavy field his 4th place finish at the olympic trials losing only to Byers(1) and Taylor(3), with Kole Konrad finishing 7th should get him some respect in this field and he handled Montero at the California open freestyle this year. Again Freestyle and Greco are not Folk Style but with this years group I think someone with his athletic abilities (very mobile) should do well.

I have to disagree, I haven't seen too many guys do the Greco-Folkstyle transition too well in the last couple of years. That's not enough in my opinion.

The question is, How does Monteiro of CSUB make the top 20 without a mention of Nye (who beat him in freestyle)? I guess Freestyle/Greco accomplishments are not taken into account in these rankings... lets just wait for the the season to start. Until then: NYE IS THE HWT TO WATCH!

The styles are so different now, when comparing collegiate success to Greco/Freestyle matches it's really a non-factor. Want to throw Scott Steele in the argument? Rationale - his Trials, despite the fact he wasn't the starter past Christmas. I realize that's not the best example because Prendergast was an All-American.

"Only losing" ... well, that's 0-for-2. Konrad switched to Greco this past year and is by know means a specialist. Proof is getting pinned by the college freshman Kowalczyk from the USOEC.

Comparing Greco results especially does zero for college rankings, IMHO. If I still coordinated the InterMat rankings, I wouldn't even look at Greco for any such basis.

Nye is one to watch, but has nothing to merit a ranking just yet.

I can see your point I think the reason so many of us who have seen him wrestle are singing his praises is that he is so good on his feet. I have followed Heavy's for a lot of years at this point in his career I would say he falls some where between Steven Neal (not such a physical freak) and Morris Johnson (bigger and stronger) but with that same wrestling ability that few Big Men have. Maybe he will flop at the next level but It would be a let down if he does not end the season a AA. Having seen both wrestle many times I would have loved to see him and a healthy Sauer wrestle it would be a close match. I would probably give Sauer a slight edge more experience but Nye is better on his feet.

There's about as much correlation between current freestyle, and even less in greco, to our folkstyle as there is between water polo and the 100 meter freestyle in swimming.
