Re: 08-09 top division 1 teams line up predictions Michigan Wolverines projected:
125 Stevens, Watts - The light bulb came on for Stevens at the end of last season in HS and he has accelerated a ton since. His career will be better than expected when signed, and will challenge Watts right away.
133 - Diehl. Sigh. Stevens may end up here though.
141 - Weber, Russell
149 - Russell, Weber. I've heard Weber is Holding Off Chrzanowski and may not do a redshirt this year, even though Chrzanowski has used his.
157 - Hynes, with Dave Johnson challenging. We won't see Salazar until at least 2010.
165 - Zeerip. He will be better than many think, though he won't make anyone forget about Tann.
174 - Luke
184 - Todd
197 - Biondo
285 - Phillips, Bleske
Look for a good possibility of true FR Mike Martin joining the Wolverines to compete at 285 after the football season. Word is that Rodriguez has given his blessing to this. While his skills and technique need seasoning, he's one of the better heavies to come out of HS in Mich in a while. He has a high ceiling, and you won't believe the physique on this guy, he is an absolute beast. As a HS senior, he was easily more ripped than any collegiate heavy I've ever seen.
I also heard a while back that former HS state champ and former UM baseballer Casey Rogowski may be on the team competing at 285. Rogowski still has sport eligibility apparently, but he's 25 or 26 now (He's spent the last several years in the White Sox organization). Not sure if this rumor has legs though, and I haven't been able top substantiate it lately. |
