    Default Jake Kemerer

Jake Kemerer Oklahoma's top recruit has changed his mind and enrolled at Penn State giving Cael another Stud in this recruiting class.

I can't wait til 2 or so years from now to see what Cael does with these recruits. Tom Brands job(and lots of other top d1 coaches) job is getting harder every day Cael is in State College.

    Tough break for the Sooners.

Things are really starting to get crowded there in the lower to upper middleweight area for the Nittany Lions with Taylor, the Altons, Ruth, Wright, and now Kemerer.

I imagine that might be called a good problem though.

I can't wait either, but I have to disagree with the latter part. For Brands, Robinson, Ryan, and the others the job has always been tough at the National level, whether Sanderson is in State College or Ames.

I assume this is because Robbie Waller left Oklahoma? Man is PSU loading up, they are going to be something in a few years.

Word out there is Spates won't give a release so he will lose a yr . Spates is well known as one of the biggest dirt bags in D1 with Waller leaving his program is in major disarray. He will most likely be replaced before to long.

I do not understand why coaches refuse to grant releases to these kids . Why be such pricks about it ? Making a kid sit for a year is not constructive to anyone .

Sure does send the message...."Make sure before you sign with me." Kids will definately think twice about signing with him. Spates is toast after this season anyway. It's obvious the AD sent a message at the end of last season and Spates cleaned out his assistants. It always a sign a warning has been delivered. He'll have to place top 5 come March to save his job.
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.

Well, I can see it for most cases why they won't grant a release. Let's say that Wrestler A is their number 1 recruit. This coach spends time on the phone, making visits, bringing this wrestler to their school for a visit, etc. Let's say that the coach does land this wrestler and they sign the letter of intent. This is good for the coach because his time spent paid off.

However, lets say that after that wrestler A decides that he will not attend the school right before school starts. Now all the time spent on wrestler A is not only wasted, but any time trying to woo 2nd favorite wrestler B to their school is not even an option because by this time all the good recruits have signed with other schools leaving the coach in a real mess.

These kids have to think about all these factors and Keremer can do what he wants but it will have conseqences. He had to think about what might happen if he left that school. You shouldn't sign with a school that you think you might not want to go to. Besides, it's no secret that things are far from great in Norman, OKlahama as far as coach spates and the team is concerned.
