Sent an email to the UTC compliance office the other day. Less than 2 hours later got this response:

    Mr.Marson,
Let me know how we can help. As we get closer we can come up with some times to meet and I or one of the assistants will show you around. Look forward to meeting you.
    Coach Eslinger

Can't believe it was that easy. I couldn't imagine approaching a football coach like that. Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.

Oh, it is that easy. Recruits and coaches in the off-season have plenty of time to do recruiting and whatnot. They will do anything to get an advantage over the opponent. By giving your son a tour, he has an opportunity to pick up a potentially great wrestler in the future

Ya Terp, I hear ya. I'm trying to find other things to do on these upcoming wrestling trips. Sort of like mini-vacations. For example, I'm leaning heavily towards the Middle School Nationals in Orlando as one we'll go to. Combine a little Mickey with the tourney. The Georgia Grind and Southeast Regionals are close to Six Flags. Stuff like that.
I'm well aware of the scholarship scenario. Also being from Louisiana and competing, I know it's gonna be an uphill battle for him just to get noticed. I really like the Carolina Schools, Duke, UNC, Davidson, Campbell and Gardner-Webb. I also have friends that have been transplanted there and they love it.

First, yes you'll find wrestling coaches are generally a lot more approachable. We're a much smaller community without the large egos of many football coaches.

Umm, Orlando and the Bataan Death March with Rides....

My daughter is going to school in North Carolina at Elon Univ in just a few weeks..

We visited Davidson, which is terrific, small school. "The Southern Dartmouth" Check out their laundry service!!

My Uncle coached track at Duke for decades and he gave us a personal tour. Of course it is another great school, despite what Maryland fans and Stardust say!!

Wake Forest was one of her top three choices, of course no wrestling there now.

UNC would have been too large a school but again, one of the top publics.

GW and Campbell didn't fit the academic profile she was looking for.

The thread is about colleges and wrestling. And a couple of comments about football coaches contrasted with wrestling coaches.

Since we just completed the couple of year process of visiting colleges, many of them in the same area as Cane is considering, I thought our experiences might be helpful to him.

    Sorry if it bores you.
