    Default Azevedo Joins Cornell Staff

Two new updates to Cornell wrestling a few weeks after the hiring of Jeremy Spates.

Matt Azevedo has joined the Cornell staff as an assistant, taking over for Travis Lee. Lee has decided to pursue a full-time career in biotechnology.

Jordan Leen is also staying in Ithaca. He'll be Director of Wrestling Operations as well as a club coach with the Finger Lakes Wrestling Club.

When Leen was asked in March about coaching he said no, he was starting med school. So is he still going to med school?

I assume that also means Travis is retired from competitive wrestling.

The following is a quote from Koll:
"Although I believe Jordan will ultimately gravitate towards the medical field he has expressed a desire to put his medical aspirations on hold to see if he enjoys wrestling as much as a coach as he did as a competitor."

Great get for the Big Red, tough loss for the Poly lightweights specifically the Novachkovs.

They had both Henson and Azevedo to roll with a few years ago, now they have neither.

Travis retired a few years ago after a neck injury sustained at a tournament overseas (I believe Uzbekistan). It's a shame since he is a very talented wrestler.
