    Wrestling Finalizes Incoming Recruiting Class

    Three national championships, seven state titles combined in recruiting haul.

    COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland wrestling coach Kerry McCoy has finalized his incoming recruiting class for the 2009-10 season with the addition of 13 talented student-athletes who will look to help the Terrapins remain atop the Atlantic Coast Conference and compete for national honors the next four years.

    McCoy and his coaching staff inked a lot of local talent, including two Maryland state champions and three Maryland natives, overall. The coaching staff is also bringing in five grapplers from the talent-rich state of Pennsylvania.

    "I am very excited about this year's incoming class," McCoy said. "There is a huge amount of talent and experience in this group. The future looks very promising for our program. This class has won three national championships and seven state championships. Collectively, there are 15 state finalists and 27 state medals in this class. They will definitely add to the competitiveness of our room and keep us on pace to become one of the nation's top programs."

    Jimmy Sheptock and Dallas Brown, both of whom signed national letters of intent with the Terps in December, are still on the way to College Park next year, with 11 more on the way, as well.

    Maryland Wrestling 2009-10 Recruiting Class:

    Jimmy Sheptock (157 pounds - Northampton High School - Northampton, Pa.) 2007 NHSCA Sophomore and 2008 Junior National Champion ... 3x state placer 7th, 3rd, 3rd ... 2X District XI Champion, 2X Beast of the East Placer ... career record of 148-28.

    Dallas Brown (184 pounds - Delone Catholic High School - McSherrystown, Pa.) 2009 state runner up, 2008 placed 4th ... 2X regional champion ... 3X district champion ... was a varsity starter all four years ... also a FILA Cadet Greco All-American runner-up.

    Justin Cash (149 pounds - Brentwood Academy - Brentwood, Tenn.) 2x state champion and 3x finalist and 4x top-3 placer (2nd, 3rd, 1st , 1st), compiling a record of 172-13 losses, of those losses, 11 were to eventual state champions ... set the overall school record for wins in a season his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, as well as the record for each of the weight classes in which he wrestled ... set the school record for takedowns in each of his four seasons, as well as the season and career record for major decisions and technical falls ... was deemed the best wrestler in the state his senior season and was the first wrestler in school history to be awarded a wrestling scholarship.





    Christian Boley (197 pounds - Brockport High School - Brockport, N.Y.) 2008 NHSCA Junior National Champion ... 2X State placer 2nd, 3rd.

    Bryan Osorio (133 pounds - Vista Ridge High School - Cedar Park, Texas) 2009 undefeated state champion (48-0) ... sophomore year placed 2nd in the state ... high school career record of 127-15 ... placed three years at the Oklahoma Open 7th, 2nd, 2nd ... regional champion and 2X runner up... 3X district champion, MOW senior year ... team captain junior and senior year ... twice voted team outstanding wrestler and once voted "El Norma" (Character) award.

    Steven Gamble (165/174 pounds) - Sherwood High School - Sandy Spring, Md.) State champion 2009 ... 4X state finalist ... 4X West Region Champion ... 4X Montgomery County champion, first in the 46 year history of the tournament ...     Kyle Liberato (125 pounds - Great Valley High School - Malvern, Pa.) Placed 7th in the 2008 state championship.

    sheptock may make some noise as a true freshman as the Acc 's better 157 lber's were freshman .Moore and Dong .
