David Taylor, thought to be the nation's #1 recruit from over 250,000 high school wrestlers, has been granted a release from Iowa State University after head coach Cael Sanderson left the Cyclones for bluer pastures.

Sanderson, a four time NCAA champion left Iowa State late last month to pursue a coaching career at Penn State University.

According to Taylor, a four time state champion from St. Paris Graham high school in the wrestling hotbed of Ohio, “The recruiting process begins again.”

Before choosing Iowa State Taylor was considering Ohio State and Oklahoma State, however, with Sanderson moving just one state to the east it is very likely that Penn State is now also in contention for the young Ohio star.

    How about Iowa little buddy?

Does anyone think there is really a chance he won't end up at PSU?

I agree. That statement gives hope to non-PSU (and ISU) fans. I hear he was "buddy buddy" with the tOSU coaches at a local clinic they put on last week. With that said, my money is on him ending up in State College.

I like the way that ISU is handling this as well as this young man.

Can ISU restrict where he ends up, like they could if they release someone from scholarship?

Taylor: "I am open to anywhere. I am going to take some time to evaluate all of my options. I'm pretty sure I will visit Penn State and Ohio State."

I wasn't necessarily asking if they did with Taylor. Just if they could. Can the same restrictions apply that a school could use when they release someone from scholarship? Like saying a recruit couldn't go to a particular school or conference.
