| ISU2008 | Re: Iowa State v. Oklahoma/Oklahoma State Discussion/Results Just got back from the meet, the first half was great, the second half not so much. Interesting note, David Taylor was in attendance. 165: Not much to say, I missed Reader throwing the headlock. 174: Burk got in on a couple shots in the first and couldn't convert, then couldn't get out on the bottom. Over halfway through the season and Burk is still an enigma. 184: Best match of the day by far. Ward got tossed to his back, I thought he was gonna get stuck. Hill backed up the whole match, Ward got 2 stall points in the second. Hill was absolutely gassed, Ward got 2 TDs in the third to win. I can't understand why Hill was so tired, he didn't do anything the whole match. Crowd was really into it after that. 197: Varner totally dominated, he had the major locked up when he cut Foster in the third with about a minute left, and couldn't get another TD. Not sure why he cut him though. 285: Both guys got in on some shots in regulation and couldn't finish. In OT, there was a great scramble and Rosholt ended up behind Zabriskie, I was sure he was going to get the takedown, but Zabriskie did kind of a somersault like Cyler does a lot, ended up nearly out of bounds and finally got the takedown. Most action I'd seen in a heavyweight match in a long time, those 30 seconds. 125: Clark just could not get through Blanc's defense, and Blanc hit good reshots to score his takedowns. Tough weekend for Clark. 133: They announced that Trevor Deardon would be wrestling, but ended up forfeiting, not sure why. 141: Getting a little slappy in the first, and Parks kind of hit Gallick, and Gallick just grabbed his hands and hit a sweet throw-by for a takedown. Gallick proceeded to ride Parks for the rest of the 1st and 3rd periods. 149: Mueller was just not getting his shots finished, but in the 3rd, got a reversal then a takedown from a front headlock. Maybe he should be working on that some more. 157: Sanderson didn't look too sharp, but got his takedowns and got the job done. |

| ISU2008 | Re: Iowa State v. Oklahoma/Oklahoma State Discussion/Results The word was Burk could have gone against Oregon State last weekend but he wasn't needed. As far as I know, he is going tonight and Sunday. And I was thinking, but didn't post, that Reader definitely should put this match away in the first be getting some takedowns, but if not, the 2nd and 3rd period choices would be interesting. |

| JensenS | Re: Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State Discussion/Results Is Burk healthy? I think Reader beats Mason on the feet, then Hill might have a shot at Ward if he goes out and scraps like he did against Keddy. You're definitely right on heavy being the most interesting match of the dual. |

| ISU2008 | Re: Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State Discussion/Results 125: Clark dec Blanc 3-0 ISU 133: Fanthorpe dec Notte 6-0 ISU 141: Gallick dec Parks 9-0 ISU 149: Mueller dec Silver 12-0 ISU 157: Sanderson dec Erisman 15-0 ISU 165: Reader dec Mason 18-0 ISU 174: McSpadden dec Burk 18-3 ISU 184: Ward dec Hill 21-3 ISU 197: Varner maj Foster 25-3 ISU 285: Rosholt dec Zabriskie 25-6 ISU At 165, it will be interesting to see who gets the choice. Reader was easily turning guys at the beginning of the season, not so much lately, and is not always able to get out, even from lesser riders than Mason. Mason took down against Morningstar in the second period and it cost him, wonder if he will do the same if it's his choice in the second here. At 174, it is a winnable match for Burk, but he has been out for a month. We'll have a better idea after the Oklahoma meet tonight. At 285, I know Z can win, but Rosholt has had his number lately. Easily the most interesting matchup of the dual. I'll throw out my OU predictions as well: 125: Clark dec Fio 3-0 ISU 133: Fanthorpe dec Shelton 6-0 ISU 141: Gallick dec Vernon 9-0 ISU 149: Terry dec Mueller 9-3 ISU 157: Sanderson dec Vernon 12-3 ISU 165: Reader dec Smith 15-3 ISU 174: James dec Burk 15-6 ISU 184: Ward dec Flynn 18-6 ISU 197: Varner maj Lapotsky 22-6 ISU 285: Zabriskie dec Fernandez 25-6 ISU At 125, Clark will be looking for revenge as Fio won twice last year, by a point each, I think. EDIT: Clark won 9-0 at the dual, then Fio beat him at Big 12's forcing Clark to need a wildcard. At 174, same deal as with OSU. Burk can win but he's been out a month. If he looks good here, I'll take him vs McSpadden. |
