Beavers followed up successful 2012-13 campaign with many memories and legendary accomplishments
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2012-13 edition of the Oregon State wrestling team made a statement to the national wrestling scene that the Beavers are a forced to be reckoned with from here on out.
On the heels of a 10th place finish at NCAA’s in 2012 and three All-Americans, Head Coach Jim Zalesky’s squad followed up 2011-12 with a second straight Pac-12 Championship and eighth place finish at Nationals, their highest since 1996. For the second straight year, OSU again claimed a trio of All-Americans, the only difference from a year ago is that all three (Scott Sakaguchi, Taylor Meeks and RJ Pena) will return to the starting line-up in 2013-14.
The Beavers also said goodbye to a handful of seniors, who contributed immensely to the program over the last half-decade, including 141 pounder Mike Mangrum, who finished his OSU career with 135 wins, one ahead of two-time national champion Les Gutches (1993-96; 177/190) with 134.
Here now is a look back at the wrestling team’s 2012-13 season in picture form, from the dual wins to the tournament championships and even post-season glory from the athletes who accomplished them.
