DES MOINES, Iowa - Penn State will have five wrestlers in the NCAA semifinals on Friday night inside Wells Fargo Arena after Nico Megaludis, David Taylor, Matt Brown, Ed Ruth and Quentin Wright each advanced with victories in Friday's quarterfinals round.
Taylor and Wright each advanced into the semifinals with pins, while Megaludis, Brown and Ruth tallied major decisions to earn spots in the final four. Overall, the Lions posted a 7-3 mark in Session III on Friday morning, including a 5-1 mark in the quarterfinals and a 2-2 record in consolation action.
With Jordan Conaway's two victories in the morning session, seven Nittany Lion wrestlers remain alive at the NCAA Championships. Penn State will enter the evening session with a 12-point lead in the team standings over Oklahoma State. Both teams have five wrestlers in the championship semifinals.
