PHILADELPHIA - Through the first session at the NCAA Championships, the Oklahoma State wrestling team is tied for fifth place with 14 team points. Penn State leads the field with 20 team points. Five Cowboys remain in the championship bracket, with five in the wrestleback.

Highlights from the morning session included bonus-point victories from Jordan Oliver at 133 pounds, Mike Benefiel at 174 pounds and Clayton Foster at 197 pounds. Other winners for OSU were 149-pounder Jamal Parks and 184-pounder Chris Perry.

Oliver raced out to a 10-1 lead over Tyler Small in the first period before flattening him out and pinning him at the 2:56 mark. Small became the ninth opponent this year that Oliver has disposed of in the first period.

Benefiel was dominant on top in pitching an 8-0 major decision shutout of Brandon Wright of Chattanooga and Foster scored three takedowns and a nearfall en route to his 11-1 major decision win over Arizona State's Luke Macchiarolli.

The Cowboys were bitten by a pair of upsets at 125 pounds and 165 pounds, respectively. At 125, No. 9 Jon Morrison lost an 8-4 decision to Pennsylvania's Mark Rappo. Morrison raced out to a 4-1 lead, but lost his grip on the lead as Rappo stormed back to score two takedowns an escape and a riding time point to move the Cowboy into the wrestleback. At 165 pounds, Dallas Bailey never got into any kind of rhythm in his 4-2 sudden victory loss to Hofstra's Paul Gillespie. After a scoreless first period, Bailey escaped to start the second. He was reversed at the beginning of the third period, then escaped to tie the score at 2-2. He was taken down immediately by Gillespie in the sudden victory period.

Josh Kindig, Neil Erisman and Blake Rosholt rounded out the OSU action, with Kindig losing a 7-3 decision to No. 7 Tyler Nauman of Pittsburgh, Erisman losing a 13-2 major decision to No. 3 David Taylor of Penn State and Rosholt suffering a 2-1 loss in the tiebreak period to Virginia Tech's David Marone.

The evening session begins at 5:30 p.m. Central Time. Fans can watch all the action live on
