The Air Force wrestling team closes out its regular season on Friday, Feb. 18, with a home dual versus Western Wrestling Conference foe Northern Colorado. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Clune Arena.

Last Time Out...

The Falcons went 1-2 in three dual meets last week. Air Force dropped a narrow 23-20 decision on the road to Utah Valley on Friday evening, while splitting a pair of home duals on Sunday with a loss to Northern Iowa (25-12) and a win over New Mexico Highlands (43-3).


Sophomore Cole VonOhlen (141) led Air Force on the weekend, posting wins in all three of his matches with a pair of falls and a tech fall. Meanwhile, six other Falcons?Derek Gillespie (133), Alec Williams (157), Clayton Gable (165), Joseph Stafford (174), Kazden Ikehara (197) and Jared Erickson (HWT)?earned two wins each.

Scouting the Falcons...

Air Force enters this week with an 11-5 overall dual record and 2-3 mark in the Western Wrestling Conference.

The Falcons are led by sophomore Cole VonOhlen, currently ranked 11th in the nation at 141 pounds by Intermat. VonOhlen, who has notched a team-best 12 falls on the season, holds a 38-7 overall record and 15-1 mark in dual action. Freshman Josh Kreimier (149) and junior Alec Williams (157) are tied for second on the team with 24 victories each, while Clayton Gable (165) and Jared Erickson (HWT) have each reached the 20-win threshold with 23 and 20 wins, respectively.

Scouting the Bears...

Northern Colorado enters this weekend?s dual with a 2-11 overall ledger and 1-4 mark in the WWC. The Bears fell to Wyoming and Northern Iowa last week, while defeating Cal State Bakersfield.

Among the leaders for the Bears is senior Justin Gaethje, who is currently ranked 19th by Intermat at 149 pounds. Meanwhile, junior Casey Cruz has recorded a team-best 20 wins on the season.

Saying Goodbye To the Seniors...

Prior to Friday night?s dual meet, the Air Force wrestling program will honor the eight members of its senior class.

The Falcons? class of 2011 includes Neil Delaney, Alex Flori, Derek Gillespie, Kazden Ikehara, Josh Larson, Joseph Stafford, Wade Stowe and Andrew Zwirlein.
