IOWA CITY, Iowa - Kurt Kinser and Ricky Alcala each had their hand raised Friday night in Iowa City before the #18 IU Wrestling team dropped a 35-6 decision to #6 Iowa. Alcala picked up his 24th victory of the season while Kinser tallied win number 22.

Kinser, ranked 14th nationally at 149 pounds, battled for a 2-0 winning tally to put the Hoosiers on the board. After a scoreless first period, Kinser rode Iowa's Matt Ballweg for the entire second period. Kinser then escaped from the bottom position in just 16 seconds to go ahead 1-0. The Bloomington, Ind., native then fended off Ballweg's offensive attack to hold on with a 1:44 riding time advantage to earn his second point.

Alcala, the ninth-ranked heavyweight in the country, went on the offensive immediately in the final bout of the evening. He garnered a pair of takedowns and two near-fall points in the opening period to go ahead 6-1. Alcala then held on for the 6-5 triumph.
