NC State and VMI each won five matches, but NC State got pins from 149-pounder Matt Nereim and 157-pounder Colton Palmer plus major decisions from 141-pounder Darrius Little and 165-pounder Colin Genthert and rode those four wins to a 23-15 victory in a dual match at Lexington, Va.

NC State won for the fifth time in its last six matches to improve to 6-3 in dual competition. VMI fell to 2-3 with the defeat.

The Keydets jumped to a 6-0 lead on the strength of an 8-6 decision by Jonathan Pope over Pedram Rahmatabadi at 125 pounds and an 8-3 win by Luke Todd over Conor Hovis at 133. The Wolfpack won the next five matches, beginning with the foursome of Little (18-6), Nereim (7-2), Palmer (21-8) and Genthert (5-10), to take a 20-6 lead.
