MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The #24 Indiana University wrestling team won four bouts Friday night in Minneapolis, but fell to the #5 Golden Gophers by a score of 25-14. Kurt Kinser picked up the 100th win of his collegiate career while Matt Powless improved to 28-2 on the season with his 12th major decision (the most in all of Division-I wrestling).

Bloomington High School South representation kept it coming at 157 pounds with Paul Young blasting Joe Grygelko by way of a 16-4 major decision. Young is just two career wins shy of Kinser with 98 victories in his time donning the cream and crimson.
Following Gopher triumphs in the 174- and 184-pound bouts, Indiana snagged the final two matches. Powless, tied for third nationally with 28 wins overall, made it a dozen major decisions on the season with his 13-3 tally over Joe Nord.
Heavyweight Ricky Alcala avenged an earlier season loss by topping #7 Tony Nelson. It was a hard-fought battle as Alcala needed extra time to secure a 3-1 decision.
