Nathan Tomasello (#1 @ 120) is a senior from Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (Cuyahoga Falls, OH), was named Most Valuable Wrestler during the power-packed Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament on Saturday at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
The field included five of the top eight teams in the nation and eight individuals ranked No. 1 in their weight classes.
The 120-pound Ohio State University recruit pinned Matthew Kolodzik of Blair Academy (Blairstown, N.J.) in 3:22 to become one of 12 elite wrestlers to win the Ironman three times. He won as a sophomore at 125 pounds and as a junior at 103 pounds. Also winning their third titles were Bo Jordan of Graham Local (St. Paris, Ohio) at 160 pounds and Blair’s Brooks Black at 285 pounds.
Tomasello told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, “It’s unbelievable. This is probably the best and toughest tournament in the country, and to win it three times in a row is unthinkable. I just put in so much hard work. It feels amazing …You’ve got to be on your game every single match every single second. I was able to do that for three years, and thank God for giving me the talent to do this.”
