Chase White (H.M. @ 160), one of the most successful high school wrestlers in Nebraska history, has accepted a scholarship to the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

White, who won back-to-back state titles with perfect records, was named the 2011 Guy Mytty Class A state wrestler of the year after he won his 83rd consecutive match and took the Class A 160-pound title for Lincoln High.

?I had some choices to make, and I thought about Division I wrestling a lot,? White said. ?But I know the coach (Marc Bauer) at UNK very well and I know I?ll be involved in a program that will contend for the national title every year.?

Bauer said the recruitment of White was a great boost for his program, which won the NCAA title in 2006 and finished in the top four the past four years.

?Chase is a strong wrestler, and we feel that if he comes in and learns from our two all-Americans at his weight next year as a redshirt, he?s going to be a team leader on the way to a national title for possibly four years.?

White?s older brother, Jordan, wrestled for UNK the past four years and graduates this spring.

?I think this team can help me and, eventually, I can help them,? said White, who was fourth at state as a freshman, second as a sophomore and champion the past two seasons.

White?s teammate Logan Molina, also a two-time champion for Lincoln High, signed a letter of intent with Iowa State earlier this spring.
