For Roger Wildmo (No. 3 @ 152) Crowned 140 lb. Flonational Champion and many other topics visit

Durand?s Roger Wildmo (No. 3 @ 152) recently added another significant accomplishment to an already-illustrious wrestling resume.

The three-time Michigan High School Athletic Association state champion took first place in the 140-pound weight class in unbeaten fashion at a national tournament on April 3.

Wildmo, who went 59-0 in the 2010-11 MHSAA season, continued his perfection at the Flonationals.

Wildmo, who will wrestle for Michigan State University, took a bye in Round 1 and posted shutout wins of 16-0 and 5-0 in Round 2 and 3.

But the closer Wildmo moved toward the final, the stiffer the competition.

Bryce McMahon, of Hermiston, Ore., was the first to score on Wildmo, as the Durand grappler took a 6-2 win in the quarterfinal round. Wildmo then rallied a semifinal-win against Kyle Burns, of Edison, Ohio, but then fell into an unfamiliar situation in the championship round with California state champion Isaiah Martinez (No. 8 @ 140) of Lemoore, Calif.

Martinez racked up five early points against Wildmo in what Durand coach Alan Tyler described as an ?exhausting match.?

?Those two guys went out after each other,? Tyler recalled from the final bout. ?Roger was down in the match and battled his way back into it. He really showed some determination to hold on and keep coming back.?

Wildmo said every time he escaped, Martinez answered back with a takedown.

?I got some more escapes and reversals, I had the lead in the second period and he reversed and got the lead,? Wildmo recalled.
