Andrew Campolattano (No. 1 @ 215), New Jersey high school wrestling sensation, still hasn?t picked a college to continue his mat career.

The all-time winningest wrestler in Garden State prep history has narrowed his choices to four finalists? but Rutgers and Penn State aren?t among them, according to Harry Frezza, MyCentralJersey.com late Wednesday night.

The teams still in the running: Lehigh, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech. Campolattano has already visited the Huskers and the Hokies; he plans to visit Ohio State this weekend, followed by a trip to Lehigh.

Now for the four-time New Jersey state champ?s assessments of the schools that didn?t make the cut:

Rutgers: According to Campolattano ? a native of Bound Brook, N.J. ? Rutgers is just too close to home. ?I want to be my own man,? he said. ?I had a feeling that if I stayed close to home I?d be there all the time. It?s not that I wouldn?t like that, and I would want my family and friends to see me wrestle, but I think it?s better for me to go away from home.?

Penn State: Frezza reports that Campolattano, although he would have loved to wrestle for coach Cael Sanderson, he had to cross the Nittany Lions off his list because the program couldn?t promise a scholarship for all four or five years of his college career.
