In a sport where the ultimate goal is winning an individual state wrestling title, Trevor Jauch (H.M. @ 140) and Joey Kielbasa (No. 10 @ 152) added a team objective: winning three consecutive championships in tandem for Crystal Lake Central.

Since winning their first state championships in their sophomore year, the two seniors have been committed to not only winning, but winning together. Kielbasa and Jauch completed their goal this season, each winning his third consecutive state title.

For their accomplishments, Jauch and Kielbasa have been chosen Northwest Herald Co-Wrestlers of the Year, as selected by the sports staff with input from area coaches.

Also given strong consideration were Central?s Gage Harrah (No. 4 @ 189) and Austin Marsden (No. 5 @ 215). Harrah at 189 and Marsden at 215 went undefeated this season and captured state titles ? for Marsden, his second. Joining the Tigers? state champions on the All-Area first team are eight state place winners, including Central?s Jason Fugiel, Richmond-Burton?s Cameron Kennedy and Jack Dechow and Marian Central?s Jared Koch, who all finished second.

Kielbasa, wrestling in heavier weight classes, always has been the one who had to seal the pact.
