The biggest night of the season for District 11 wrestlers is often supposed to be about the individual.

But time and again Saturday, those individuals wore the singlets of No. 15 Bethlehem Catholic, whose wrestlers found themselves atop the podium five times at the 2011 PIAA District 11 Class AA district tournament at Liberty High School.

Pen Argyl and Becahi went neck-and-neck in the team totals all weekend but the Golden Hawks pulled it out 240 to 227.5 on the strength of their seven district finalists.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class will move on to the PIAA Class AA Southeast Regional at Wilson-West Lawn.

As has been their strength all year, Becahi lightweights got the ball rolling at 103 with fourth-seeded sophomore Darian Cruz pinning his third seeded opponent, Saucon Valley?s Bryan Israel.* Zeke Moisey (No.12 @ 112) then dropped Pen Argyl senior Jamie Welsh, the second seed at 112 pounds, with a 9-1 major decision and Golden Hawk Randy Cruz (H.M. @119) found a way to take down Wilson senior Michael Fleck at 119.

?I wrestled him two years ago when he was at Easton, so I was familiar with him,? Randy Cruz said of Fleck, a previous state qualifier for Easton.
