  1. Ohio College Week 3 Report

    by , 11-19-2010 at 08:45 PM
The second weekend of the season was an eventful one for Ohio's wrestlers.
In the week's premier story, Penn State freshman and former Graham Falcon David Taylor performed as well as you could possibly hope for him to perform. Wrestling
Bloomsburg's Matt Hickman and Lehigh's Sean Bilodeau, two good opponents who both spent time ranked last year, he scored early and often and ended both matches before the allotted seven minutes expired. He rang up a technical fall over Hickman ...

  2. #1 Cornell v. #5 Central Michigan Official Predictions

    by , 11-18-2010 at 07:29 AM
125: Frank Perrelli dec Kyle Waldo 3-0 Cornell (Perrelli had a tough weekend at the BU Open, but he's still by far the better guy here. I think he gets off to a good start this weekend in front of the home crowd here)

133: Scott Sentes dec Joe Stanzione 3-3 (Conservative call with Stanzione coming into the match hot off of his Binghamton Open championship which included a win over Hutter, and Sentes wrestling his first match of the year. Sentes has the capacity to do more but we'll ...
  3. Ohio Week 2 Report

    by , 11-11-2010 at 06:14 AM
'Twas an opening weekend of mixed results for Ohio's Division I wrestlers. By and large, the youth did great. Only one or two did not meet or exceed my expectations (which is the only true judge of success or failure).
    In Blacksburg, Virginia:

Kent State split in their dual meets, pounding Chattanooga 24-12 and losing to a young Iowa State team in a 23-19 upset. Nic Bedelyon posted a pair of beatings over Chattanooga's Prescott Garner (a 15-5 major decision) ...

  4. Ohio Week 1 College Preview

    by , 11-05-2010 at 10:27 PM
For opening weekend in Division I sports, you typically have muted expectations for how much you'll be entertained. If it's football, you know the Buckeyes are going to be pounding on some FCS teams for the first month. In basketball, there's typically a team or two I've never heard of (though I don't follow basketball at all). This weekend, the Buckeye wrestling team will be following similar form by sending most of the team to
the Buffalo Open in Buffalo, New York. There is no ...

  5. Ohio Collegiate Wrestling Preview: Part 3

    174: The Young but Restless
This is a weight rich in young potential, but light on proven experience. Dropping down from 184, OU junior Nick Purdue has the potential to make a serious splash at his new weight. This is a guy who had some seriously great wins last year--they just didn't come at the right tournaments. His stardom reached its apex when, at the Reno Tournament of Champions, he beat Edinboro's Pat Bradshaw and Wyoming's 2x All-American Joe Leblanc back-to-back to ...
