There are very few good QBs in the league right now, so the question of Favre being #2 on the Packers is flat-out silly. If the Pack wants to go forward with Rodgers, then they should release Favre. Conversely, if they don't want to release him, then they'd be stupid to call Favre their #2.
I can't fault Favre for wanting to come back. You only live once, and he just wants to play. Yes, it makes for an awkward situation, but it's easy enough for the Pack to fix it - play him or release him.
Rodgers is the one guy who's getting screwed here. If he is #1 and doesn't play well, then everyone is going to be wishing that Favre was still on the team. If he is beaten out by Favre for #1, then he is going to have to wait (at least) another year. |
