Each bracket will be a 33-man bracket at the NCAA Tournament
Their will be a 110 Automatic Bids given to each of the qualifying tournament champions.
An additional 140-170 bids will be allocated prior to the qualfying tournaments. The wrestling committee will set a threshold and look at these three factors.

2. RPI Rank
3. Coaches Poll Rank
If you meet 2 of the 3 standards you earn a bid for your qualfifying tournament at that weight class. So you might see at a tournament 125 with 2bids, 133 with 4 and then 141 with 1.
Following the qualifying tournaments, the NCAA Wrestling Committee will meet in person to allocated the remaining bids to round out the 33-man brackets. |
Good, it appears I was wrong about the absence of having national wildcards awarded after conference tourneys. Although holding back 50 qualifying spots does somewhat diminish the importance of conference tourneys.
Seeing who the committee chooses will generate a ton of discussion.
