Default Re: Obama: Offshore drilling will not lower gas prices this year, next year or 5 years from now

Offshore drilling will certainly increase oil supply, which could help alleviate prices in the right conditions. Obama just doesn't want anyone to think he has the wrong idea, even though he does.

You could have asked what the point of drilling was in the 70s if it wouldn't solve shortages right away, too. A lot of people did. Now that we are dealing with those consequences, we find it would have made a lot of sense to drill.

I read something the other day, Big, that I thought you might find interesting and I'll have to try to find it again. It was a news piece that a power company contractor in Saudi Arabia wrote. According to this lady, natural gas to fire power plants in the Middle East is scarce and getting very expensive. Their power company is already in talks with several US coal companies and is willing to pay top dollar for US coal. This company expects that in 10 years, the US will be a net exporter of energy to the Middle East, not the other ways around.

I'll have to try to find that article again.
