I think it is obvious Worlds and Olympics prior to Soviet break up were a joke compared to today.

Consider 74kg at Olympics this year:

Saitiev/Murta
Aldatov
Chamsulvaraev
Gitinov
Gaidarov
Tigiev

That is 6 great wrestlers now vs just one before 1992.
