Default Re: Gas officially crosses $4 in NY

While the steady rise in gas prices are hurting many perhaps it will be the catalysis to wean the US off of its oil dependence and embrace greener renewable technologies. Cheap oil has stifled research and development while at the same time encouraging wastefulness. There are many new and exciting developments in alternate fuels for transportation along with heating and cooling technologies. The higher oil prices are pushing these to the forefront with new products in production and many more on the way. What we need is a fresh approach from the government, big business in the energy and transportation fields , and most importantly consumers, to facilitate the changes that are needed.
As dark as it may seem today I have faith in our ability to do what needs to be done. For anyone interested here is a link to some of the near term possibilities on the transportation front. Some very cool innovative ideas.
