That's quite different than being "punished" or issued a "death sentence". I suspect he was referring to common practices in Islamic nations that forbid religious freedoms and freedom of speech. I have an acquaintance in an Islamic republic who is a Christian. Everything he does relative to his religious practice he does at the risk of imprisonment, punishment and torture. Not quite like here in the good old US.
